Ceramic membranes are asymmetric porous membranes fabricated from inorganic materials such as alumina (Al2O3), zirconia (ZrO2), lanthanum oxide (La,O,) and yttrium oxide {Y,O,) through specialized manufacturing processes including molding, forming and high­temperature sintering. The ceramic membrane filtration process operates on a cross-flow filtration principle where feed liquid is pumped through the membrane channels under pressure provided by a centrifugal pump, enabling small molecules to permeate through the membrane while retaining concentrated components to achieve separation, concentration and purification purposes. With filtration precision covering microfiltration and partial ultrafiltration ranges, ceramic membranes feature adjustable pore sizes from 0.05µm to l.4µm, allowing optimal pore size selection based on specific feed characteristics including viscosity, solid content, temperature and suspended particle size distribution to ensure effective separation performance. The robust inorganic composition provides excellent thermal stability and chemical resistance, making ceramic membranes particularly suitable for demanding industrial applications requiring high­temperature operation or exposure to aggressive chemical environments.
